This is an unincorporated section of the City of La Mesa.

A 19-year-old male with suicidal tendencies doused the inside of his home with gasoline and threaten to kill his mother and himself. The mother escaped the house and called the Sheriff’sin. They surrounded the home and attempted to talk to the young man. The deputies then broke several windows and shot pepper balls into the home. They finally breached the doors and went in, not finding the young man. After the soundbite, the Sheriff’s Captain informed that his deputies did find the male down the street and have detained him. They will be taking him to the County Mental hospital.

The Fire Department is venting the house and it is not known if the residents will be displaced.
